Janizelle Marichal

Licensed Professonal Counselor Associate, Supervised by Amanda Sherman LPC-Supervisor

Dallas, Texas Therapist Specializing in counseling with tweens and teens, anxiety, depression, life transitions, school-related concerns, and EMDR with children and adults. Offering services in both English and Spanish.

Hi, I’m Janizelle Marichal—though I go by Jen—a therapist based in Dallas, Texas, committed to helping clients navigate life’s challenges with compassion and clarity. Originally from Miami, Florida, I bring a rich blend of personal and professional experience into the therapy space. I specialize in supporting individuals facing anxiety, depression, life transitions, self-esteem issues, and school-related concerns. With a background in education and years of experience as both a kindergarten teacher and school counselor, I offer a unique perspective—especially when working with children, teens, and families. I’m passionate about helping people process, grow, and heal in spaces that honor culture, identity, and individuality. My approach is warm, collaborative, and tailored to meet each client’s unique needs.

My Services:

  • Individual Therapy
Personalized support for individuals ages 10 and up, focusing on anxiety, depression, stress management, grief, self-worth, relationship challenges, and personal growth. Sessions are client-centered and grounded in empathy, trust, and empowerment.
  • Therapy for Tweens & Teens
Compassionate and developmentally appropriate therapy for adolescents navigating social pressures, academic stress, self-esteem struggles, identity development, anxiety, depression, and family dynamics. I use creative, expressive approaches like activity therapy to help clients feel safe, heard, and understood.
  • Therapy for Young Adults
Support for individuals in their late teens and early twenties as they navigate the unique challenges of this life stage including identity exploration, building independence, managing relationships, setting boundaries, and making career or educational decisions. I help clients move forward with clarity, confidence, and self-compassion.
  • Support for Educators & Helping Professionals
Therapy for teachers, school staff, and mental health clinicians experiencing burnout, compassion fatigue, and overwhelm. As a former educator myself, I understand the emotional toll, and can provide a safe space to recharge, set boundaries, and prioritize your mental health.
  • EMDR Therapy
I offer Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) to children, adolescents, and young adults who have experienced trauma, anxiety, grief, or distressing life events. EMDR can be a powerful tool for processing difficult memories, reducing emotional intensity, and building resilience.

Whether you are seeking to:

  • Manage symptoms of anxiety or depression – Develop practical tools to cope and create space for healing
  • Adjust to life transitions – Navigate change with greater clarity, confidence, and resilience
  • Improve communication and resolve conflict – Strengthen relationships through effective skills and strategies
  • Explore and set healthy boundaries – Identify what you need and learn how to protect your peace
  • Support your child or teen’s mental health – Understand their world and help them thrive
  • Prioritize your well-being as an educator, parent, or caregiver – Reconnect with yourself while supporting others

You’re not alone in this. I’m here to walk with you as you process, grow, and find your way forward – whatever that looks like for you.

My Approach:

I am dedicated to fostering a place that feels warm, welcoming, and free from judgment – where you can show up exactly as you are. In therapy with me, you’ll find a foundation built on compassion, authenticity, and unwavering support. I believe that true healing begins when we feel safe, understood, and fully accepted. In our work together, you’ll be gently invited to explore your story at your own pace, enhance your self-awareness, and embrace growth with clarity and courage. Whether through talk therapy, activity-based approaches, or EMDR, my goal is to walk alongside you on your healing journey, empowering you to create lasting change in a way that feels deeply human and transformative.

Additional Information:

Finding the “right” therapist for you and your situation can feel overwhelming. However, this is an important step toward supporting you, your child, and your family system in the therapeutic process. My hope is that you can learn more about me, as a human and as a therapist, to determine if we are the right fit.
